The prototype
The first boat we built for autonomy was a small catamaran seating 6 people. The catamaran hull was chosen for a realistic model of the future bigger boats to come. Catamarans are unbeatable when it comes to stability and low power consumption.
This boat model went all the way to commercial operation in Helsinki back in 2020. It transported 7000 people out to an island for two summer months. Autonomous operation with passengers requires a supervising captain onboard, but nevertheless, the CAT 6 was the first autonomous electric passenger boat in the world to enter commercial operation.
